چکیده

Linear transceiving schemes between the relay and the destination have recently attracted much interest in MIMO amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying systems due to low implementation complexity. In this paper, we provide comprehensive analysis on the diversity order of the linear zero-forcing (ZF) and minimum mean squared error (MMSE) transceivers. Firstly, we obtain a compact closed-form expression for the diversitymultiplexing tradeoff (DMT) through tight upper and lower bounds. While our DMT analysis accurately predicts the performance of the ZF transceivers, it is observed that the MMSE transceivers exhibit a complicated rate dependent behavior, and thus are very unpredictable via DMT for finite rate cases. Secondly, we highlight this interesting behavior of the MMSE transceivers and characterize the diversity order at all finite rates. This leads to a closed-form expression for the diversityrate tradeoff (DRT) which reveals the relationship between the diversity, the rate, and the number of antennas at each node. Our DRT analysis compliments our previous work on DMT, thereby providing a complete understanding on the diversity order of linear transceiving schemes in MIMO AF relaying channels.

[hal-00833891, v1] Signal-Level Cooperative Spatial Multiplexing for Uplink Throughput Enhancement in MIMO Broadband Systems

In this paper, we address the issue of throughputefficient half-duplex constrained relaying schemes for broadband uplink transmissions over multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. We introduce a low complexity signal-level cooperative spatial multiplexing (CM) architecture that allows for the shortening of the relaying phase without resorting to any symbol detection or re-mapping at the...

Joint Filter Design of Alternate MIMO AF Relaying Networks with Interference Alignment

We study in this paper a two-hop relaying network consisting of one source, one destination, and three amplify-and-forward (AF) relays operating in a half-duplex mode. In order to compensate for the inherent loss of capacity pre-log factor 12 in a half-duplex mode, we consider alternate transmission protocol among three relays where two relays and the other relay alternately forward messages fr...

Cooperative MIMO Relaying with Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes in Wireless Channels with and without Keyholes

Cooperative multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relaying is investigated in the paper. We introduce DFAF selection MIMO relaying, where the relay equipped with multiple antennas can adaptively switch between decode-and-forward (DF) and amplify-and-forward (AF) according to its decoding state of the sourcemessage. We consider two wireless environment scenarios: 1)The scenario with traditional ...

DMT of Multi-hop Cooperative Networks - Part II: Half-Duplex Networks with Full-Duplex Performance

We consider single-source single-sink (ss-ss) multihop relay networks, with slow-fading links and single-antenna half-duplex relay nodes. While two-hop cooperative relay networks have been studied in great detail in terms of the diversitymultiplexing gain tradeoff (DMT), few results are available for more general networks. In a companion paper, we characterized end points of DMT of arbitrary ne...
